Featherstone Rovers have continued their recruitment for next season by extending Connor Jones’ stay at the club by another 2 years.
The 28 year old Australian has been one of the most influential players in Rovers squad over the last four seasons after rejoining the club from Salford Red Devils in 2021 and has committed his future to the Blue Wall for 2025.
This will be the durable number 9’s sixth season with Fev across two spells, having made 122 appearances for the club to date, including an impressive 31 games in 2024.
Jones brings a level on consistency rivalled by few, with a tremendous appetite for work in the middle defensively, coupled with a craft and speed around the ruck which has seen him notch up an impressive 77 tries for the club.
His re-signing is crucial for Featherstone, who continue to build an impressive squad under James Ford ahead of the 2025 campaign.
Commenting on committing his future to the Blue Wall, Jones said:
“I’m really pleased to re-sign at Fev for another 2 years. I’ve been in the UK for nearly six years now and love the club, it was a no brainer for me to stay.
“2024 was challenging at times but the boys showed some real desire and growth throughout the year and I’m excited to be a part of what Fordy is building for next year.
“We’re making some quality additions to the squad and I’m looking forward to being part of the push for higher honours and silverware in 2025.”
Featherstone Head Coach Ford was understandably pleased to retain the services of such an important player.
He said: “Retaining Connor is a really important piece of business for the club, we’re delighted he’s staying for another 2 years.
“Anyone who has watched Connor play over the last few years know what he brings, quality around the ruck and a relentless work ethic off the ball, week in week out.
“His knowledge of the game is second to none and he’s shown real leadership on and off the field in recent seasons; he’ll undoubtedly have a huge role to play for us next year.”
