Featherstone Rovers are delighted to announce that club captain Danny Addy has signed a new deal with the club.
The inspirational skipper, who led the club on and off the field throughout the 2024 season, has extended his stay with the Blue Wall for a further 12 months, keeping him at the club for at least the 2025 season, with an option of a second year.
The experienced loose forward made the move to his hometown club at the end of last year, joining from Super League side Salford Red Devils, where he spent three seasons.
Addy’s undoubtedly one of the most experienced players in the Championship. After originally coming through the junior ranks at Bradford, he has amassed well over 200 senior appearances across spells with seven different clubs in 15 seasons.
Able to play a multitude of different positions, from loose forward and backrow to hooker and half back, the Scottish international’s versatility makes him an invaluable asset to James Ford’s squad, while his leadership was instrumental in everything Fev did well during the 2024 season.
Speaking to the club website about his new deal, Addy said: “As a local lad who grew up and played his junior rugby in the area, it was always an ambition of mine to play for Featherstone and so the chance to stay here was another year was a no brainer.
“2024 was far from perfect, but being able to lead the boys week in week out was something I really enjoyed, I feel like I learned a lot as a player and a person, as did the squad as a whole.
“We finished the year pretty well which has given us the confidence and the hunger to go bigger and better in 2025 and I’m looking forward to being a part of it under Fordy.”
Featherstone boss James Ford added: “In his first year with the club Danny quicky became an integral part of the playing group, we’re thrilled he’s signed on for 2025.
“Danny brings so many qualities on the field in both attack and defence and his work ethic, versatility and durability is second to none.
“He’s a natural leader and the ultimate professional that our younger players can really learn from; I’m sure he’ll have a big role to play in what we’re aiming to achieve next season.”
