Featherstone Rovers are happy to confirm that popular forward Jimmy Beckett has inked a 12 month extension with the club.
The hard working middle, who joined the Blue Wall mid season from Dewsbury Rams, quickly became an integral part of the match day 17, bringing a level of toughness and consistency to Fev’s pack.
After scoring a game clinching try in his first outing against Batley in July, Beckett was virtually ever present for James Ford’s side in the back half of the season and has now signed on for another year, keeping him at the club until the end of 2026.
A Featherstone local, Beckett played his amateur rugby at Featherstone Lions, making his professional debut for Rovers in 2019 after joining from Castleford’s academy.
Beckett enjoyed a three year stint at Rovers which saw him play for Keighley, Oldham and Dewsbury on loan before he joined the Rams permanently in 2021.
Now, after returning from the Rams in the summer, Beckett has secured his longer term future with his hometown club, and is set to play a big role in propelling Featherstone to higher honours in the Championship.
The 25 year old is capable of playing front row, back row and loose forward, bringing an unrivalled work ethic in the middle that will certainly see him play a key part in Fev’s 2025 campaign and beyond.
Speaking about signing a contract extension, Beckett said: “I’ve absolutely loved my time at Rovers since returning this year and had no doubts whatsoever about committing my future here.
“This is the club where it all started for me and for them to put their faith in me for the next couple of seasons is great, I’m looking forward to giving my all to the jersey and seeing where we can go in 2025.
“In my short time with the boys in 2024, we made big strides forward, and the squad we’re building for next year is really exciting to be a part of.”
Featherstone boss James Ford added: “I really enjoyed working with Jimmy last season and we all feel he can continue to improve and really establish himself as a leading middle in the championship. His ability to play long minutes whilst nailing his effort areas will be invaluable. I know Jimmy will be ready to fight for his place in our top 17.”
